Huai’an Zhongshuge
The Huai'an Zhongshuge bookstore reimagines architectural space as a cosmic journey, blending surrealism with structural precision. Dominated by exaggerated three dimensional forms, the interior evokes celestial mechanics through concentric rings and irregular geometric structures that mimic astronomical instruments. Bookshelves curve and spiral like planetary orbits, their dynamic arrangements echoing the motion of celestial bodies. Scattered books, akin to fragments of infinite worlds, nestle within these sculptural shelves.
Huai’an Zhongshuge Bookstore by Li Xiang was identified as a creative representation of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. Huai’an Zhongshuge Bookstore was awarded the Platinum A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2025. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design competition which honors exceptional design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
